The Abaca fiber in our PYRATEX® musa family is developed in collaboration with NEMUSA. The fiber comes from a species of banana that is native to the Philippines.

This wildly grown plant is often collected by small groups of local farmers. It is sturdy and self-sufficient, requiring no pesticides or extra water to grow. The fiber itself is compostable and degrades naturally. Compared to other known fibers, abaca is long-lasting thanks to one of its most important properties which is high tensile strength.
